This project began in August 2012 and has a publish deadline of October 2013 which means I hope to have wrapped up the manuscript by June of that same year.
The book will consist of 50 chapters, each of four pages (1 poem, 1 illustration and 2 pages of prose). This is the same format I adopted for my debut book, “Me, My World and I”, only this time I am writing a travel book.
As summer fades to autumn shades I am lost to dreams. Carefree I wander beneath a warm summer sun, as the gentle waves of a clear sea lap at the pristine sands of a sun drenched beach.
This is my island escape, my place in the sun. This is where I come to escape the shackles of work, problems and life. Here I tread lightly along an elegant promenade, kissed by the light of a silver moon.
The air is filled with the aromas of freshly cooked delights permeated with garlic, rosemary and thyme. Laughter and music dance in symphony, as everywhere I am greeted by smiling faces and a welcoming hand.
This could, of course, be anywhere. For so cliché is my idyllic retreat that its description would match any number of the worlds more commonly visited island destinations. From the Canaries to Hawaii and from the Balearics to the Maldives, my dream of holiday perfection can readily be found without digging too deeply.
This is not a book that places cliché at its centre, nor do I apologise for making it poetic. Join me as I venture the winding streets and the open countryside of some of Europe’s finest attractions. I will take you on a journey and together we shall venture the unknown.
This is not a guide book or an aid to choosing the best hotel; this is travel through the eyes of a poet.
Each chapter comes from a different destination. The chapter so far planned or already written are as follows:
Postcards is now my main project and work is progressing nicely. I have a number of travel assignments arranged and will be adding new locations soon.
